Where the Wild Things Are

Back by Popular Demand this great children's story is one of my childhood favorites and made a big splash as one of last Summer's kids camps!

This bestelling book by Caldecott winner Maurice Sendak tells the story of Max, who one evening plays around his home, "making mischief" in a wolf costume.Max gets carried away, as young men in wolf costumes often do and as punishment, his mother sends him to bed without supper. In his room, a mysterious, wild forest grows out of his imagination, and Max journeys to the land of the Wild Things. They are fearsome-looking monsters, but the fearless Max conquers them with a scary look and is immediately made the King of the Wild Things. They party in the jungle, without mothers to tell them no, but, he soon finds himself lonely and homesick. A much more penitent Max returns home to his bedroom where he finds his supper waiting for him ... "And it was still hot."

Join us August 4-8 from 9:30 -12:00 as we play acting games, dress up, do "monster" crafts and pretty much party 'til the wild things come home! This great camp followed by a public performace on Friday August 8 at 7pm will be the third in our Summer $1 theatre season. Can't be here for all the fun? Make plans to come see the show, we promise it will be the most fun you can have for a buck anywhere!

The cost of camp is $50. All classes and performances will be held at our theatre, Family Theatre Warehouse, 907 W. Britton Rd, Oklahoma City. Call 848-7469 or email to TheFamilyTheatre@aol.com for more information!

It has inspired all kinds of artists for more than a generation, here is a ballet, based on Maurice Sendaks story and characters.

King Bidgood's in the Bathtub and he Won't Get Out!

A stubborn king refuses to leave his bathtub. After all, why should he? He can dance, sing, fish, play, and even eat in his wonderful tub. The queen, the duke, the knight, and the entire court try to coax the unruly king out with no success. Why King Bidgood finally leaves his tub is the surprise ending to this tale.

Angel and I found this wonderful book while searching for ideas for The Donut kids theatre, and it will eventually get brought to the stage by our professional adult company, but in the meantime come and have some with us as we play acting games, dress up,do "King Bidgood" themed crafts, snack and , oh yeah write and produce our own stage version of King Bidgood complete with songs!

This camp is for ages 4-9 and the cost for the week is $50. Camp meets from 9:30- 12:00 Mon.- Fri. June 9-13. We will perform for a public audience as part of three show $1 theatre season on Friday June 13 @ 7pm! Can't make it for the whole camp? Make plans now to attend the show! All classes and performance will be held at our theatre Family Theatre Warehouse 907 W. Britton Rd, Oklahoma City. Call 848-7469 or email TheFamilyTheatre@aol.com for more information.
